What to do if something goes wrong! - Stepping Up

We are learning how to stand up to behaviour we don’t like online (and in person).

I now know and understand what to do when something doesn’t seem right online. Even when I am being Cybersmart, sometimes I will come across something online that makes them feel uncomfortable or I don’t like.

This is the resource I have been using to learn.

Five tips to deal with haters and trolls

First, don't respond. Responding could make things worse.

Second, ignore them. Focus on positive thoughtful and helpful comments and move on.

Third, block or unfollow. Use the site privacy settings to disconnect from the person.

Fourth, report it. Use the community reporting tools to let the site know that someone is abusing their guidelines.

And fifth take screenshots. If the comments are really bad save the evidence in case things escalate.

Look at the slideshow above and then try the quiz below. Once you have finished you will get your score and see your answers.
Have a go!

    1. Kia ora Tumoana,

You are right, bullying isn't ok. I was at the park once and two small grey dogs came up to me and started to say some really mean things. I told them to stop it and go away and they didn't listen. Luckily my parents were there and they told the grey dogs off and to go away. They did and their Dad wasn't happy with them either. It was so nice to have adults around that could help. I hope you have a good adults around you too.

      Woof ya later,
